Northwood real estate is located within the Alamo Heights and Castle Hills area of San Antonio, Texas. This area is an entirely residential and features a diverse array of homes that range from an early ranch-style, to two-story modern homes. Homes for sale in Northwood tend to be more affordable than those that are located in its sister communities in this portion of North Central San Antonio. The boundaries of this community include Loop 410 to the north, Eisenhower Road to the south, Harry Wurzbach to the east, and Broadway to the west. The large majority of abodes in Northwood are single family homes that have an average of approximately three to four bedrooms and two full bathrooms. Most homes for sale in Northwood start in the $250k range, while their are larger homes that are in the $300k range. This is a marked difference from the next door Alamo Heights in which homes of the same size will be priced at over half a million dollars. The neighborhood features monthly HOA meetings that are well attended . However, due to the neighborhoods proximity to the San Antonio International Airport, some residents have complained about excessive noise caused by the air traffic. Worry not however, since the San Antonio Noise Mitigation Office can assist residents and even help soundproof homes where noise pollution is a primary concern.
The majority of residents in Northwood will send their students to schools maintained by North East ISD. However, there are a number of areas in this community, especially towards the northern border, where students will attend schools managed by Alamo Heights ISD. Alamo Heights as a district is considered a “Recognized” district by the Texas Education agency. In the most recent Accountability Rating, 50% of the schools in the district were rated as “Recognized”, while 16.7% were rated as “Academically Acceptable”, and 33.3% did not receive a rating. North East ISD is also a “Recognized” district and 35.2% of the schools were ” Exemplary”, while 42.3% were“Recognized”, 12.7% were considered “Academically Acceptable”, and 9.9% were not eligible to receive an evaluation.
